Consistency as the Key to Happiness

Everyone has a different idea of happiness. Talking with friends, going to an amusement park, or having a family, whether it be the “simple things” or some greater conception of happiness, there are many ways people determine if they are happy.  There are, however, said to be forms of happiness that are wrong. Sadism, ignorance, and intoxication are all looked down upon because of they are unethical or pathetic. In our society we have laws in place to protect us and keep us safe, but also laws to clip these wrong sources of happiness from our society. It is ok because such pleasures aren’t even true happiness anyway. We can often look down on people because they are being deceived into thinking they are happy.
Disagreements over happiness can lead to conflict. In a society where everyone is wrong, but functional and progressive, can we say that they are wrong? If what is right and wrong is linked to our human nature, and human nature inseparable from us, then what can we say to people with different ideas of right and wrong. There are conflicts in our world over what is right and wrong. At the same time, people are raised under different conditions. There can in fact be no conditions that are incompatible with our nature because our nature is derived from our condition. Our conflicts come from differences in right and wrong, differences in nature. However in a utopia society, if there is any consistency in upbringing, there will be consistency in opinion.
