Utopia/Dystopia Class

I originally thought of a Utopia of something that cannot be achieved because a Utopia is different for each person.my perception of a Utopia did not change but I learned more about them throughout this course. Whenever somebody tries to create a utopian society it turns into a dystopian society because there will always be a group of people who are not happy. In Brave New World, the elite have an amazing life, but those who were not fortunate enough to be created in that caste had to deal with mental handicaps. Although they do not realize they have these mental handicaps, it is obvious they are not on top.
A Utopia is meant to criticize an aspect of society by making it “perfect” but instead showing that these radical changes will never work. In Blade Runner they have replicants do the dangerous work in space so that they do not have to endanger themselves. This backfires on them since the replicants are not happy and wish to have a better life. My understanding of a Utopia has become clearer and I have learned that nothing can ever be perfect. Even trying to achieve perfection will only lead to radical changes that will leave the people unhappy.
